Owen is One

WOW

How did this happen?

He is talking (well not like a pro or anything but he tries) - he's got some basic sounds that literate into a few different words - poo poo, boo, kiss, this, juice ( except, he says jus like the french), allo (hello - again; I don't know where the french is coming from), he says ba for banana (when he sees it at the table and wants some), tookie (for cookie of course) up, mum, yum (which is actually um and can easily be confused for mum) dadada, he also tries really hard to say Georgia although he says it different every time so we haven't established a specific word but you know when he's trying.
He also knows how to sign - all done, more, eat, drink and thank you
He blows kisses which you would think would look the same as signing thank you, but when he is blowing you a kiss he will make a kissy smooching sound
He is just starting to walk and will likely be motoring around by Christmas (If not before than)
He is very quick to pick up on things and not afraid to fall - an example would be the book I bought him with animal sounds, after the 3rd time i read it to him he was copying the animal sounds

My Favorite Picture

Maybe it's not a work of art, maybe the lighting is off, maybe it is photography disaster or maybe not, what it is; is a beautiful picture of my children.
Georgia looks so beautiful and although annoyed, Owen looks as cute as ever.
They are together, not fighting or screaming, they are both atleast content and sat still long enough for me to take this picture.
Another thing great about this picture is that it was taken OUTSIDE on November 4 - that's right NOVEMBER - it was warm enought that niether child needed to be bundled
(which in my opinion usually ruins a good picture - unless of course you are rich enough to afford really nice outerwear so they look super stylish)
Don't you just wanna squeeze them!

Turtlesaurus

A new species of Dinosaur has been discovered

The Turtlesaurus

Sorry to anyone who might think that they have already discovered this species -

you were fooled -

I have found the one and ONLY

TURTLESAURUS

And I have named him OWEN

A rather strange species -

  • 4 eyes ( 2 that don't move)

  • the cutest pudgy little face (cuter than any other dinosaur species)

  • Definetely a herbivor as it did not try to attack me (either this it was not hungry at the time)

  • very friendly and a little bit bashful

  • soft, squishy and cuddly (unlike any other species)

  • rather short and awkward on 2 feet

  • very few dull rounded teeth (yet another sign of herbivorism)

  • tries to communicate in some foreign language (tho more similar to ours than one would expect)

  • likes to dance

  • can tear apart a clean room in 2 seconds flat

  • tries to pull it's own head off and was successful at twisting it

  • very cute

  • oh and he calls me MOM

I think I will keep him

I could've made millions off these photos but thought I'd share them with you instead

So we got the kids halloween costumes - Owen got a turtle costume at the Childrens Place that I think looks kind of like a dinosaur as well (luckily cause I really wanted a dinosuar costume for him) anyway I ordered him some Babylegs to keep his legs warm and they came today - So I put him in the whole outfit and had to post these pictures -

Isn't he cute?

Everyone Smile Except . . .

Georgia

Apparently as a kid when my father would take family pictures he would say "everyone smile" we would all smile and then he would say "okay, everyone smile except Crystal"

I had one of those goofy smiles that my sister or brother could explain far better than I could due to the fact that I just don't seem to remember this.

Apparently it's hereditary as this goofy smile gene has been passed down to Georgia and now every time I try and get a nice picture of her and I ask her to smile, I always regret it.

Georgia is beautiful and she takes a great picture when she is natural and unaware of the camera but as soon as she knows her picture is being taken this is what you get

This was my attempt at getting a nice pictrue of her on her birthday

And I finally got a few good ones

Then there is my attempt at getting a cute pic on her first day of dance in her ballerina outfit

She may be goofy but she's still cute as hell

Thanks goodness for digital cameras - I would have 5 MILLION rolls of film to develop

What a friggin great weekend!

My 3 year old, Georgia has a new favorite word - FRIGGIN
Yes I will admit this one is completely MY fault - altho to my defense this is what I say instead of the other F word which is much worse and not so cute
She really knows how to use it and takes every opportunity

Saturday morning Georgia had dance class and because she needed a shower before hand there wasn't time for breakfast - she got a quick snack in the car and after dance we went to McDonald's and got her the breakfast happy meal in which they gave her a FRIGGIN WEIRD toy - she was suppose to get a girl toy which happens to be Wizard of Oz dolls but instead she got the boy toy which is Batman Lego and it did not go over so well
As we are getting ready to head out for the weekend she says "This toy is FRIGGIN WEIRD"

This weekend we went to a friends house ( nate was helping them out and we stayed over night )
She had a blast and was sad to leave
Their front door is a double door where only one door opens - the door that does open sticks and is heavy so it's hard for her to open - she has gotten quite good at opening doors lately but had difficulty with this one
As she was heading to the doors to go outside and play she screams " Remember these doors are FRIGGIN STUPID"

I believe this word needs to be in the dictionary

We actually had a great weekend and this was only 1 hilarious part of our weekend - any of you who know Georgia would know that the laughs didn't stop there! We had a really good laugh thanks to Georgia at the dinner table but I can't seem to remember what about and I swear that there was one other use of the word FRIGGIN but can't seem to remember when or how -

My daughter is FRIGGIN HILARIOUS

Munch goes with Lunch

Today Georgia had her second day of pre-school.

She LOVES it, has no issues with me leaving and is happy to see me when I come pick her up but is not always thrilled with the idea of leaving. I haven't heard any complaints about her from the pre-school teacher either, which is good. I am guessing she is her usual caring, polite, cute self.

When we got home she asked if we could go back!

I am so gald that she is doing well and look forward to the many stories that she will tell me after each day!

Today's Story is Munch goes with Lunch - this is her version of a little poem/song that they act out with their hands

We were going for a walk when Georgia says loudly "Munch goes with Lunch"

I asked her what she was talking about and she says back "Munch goes with Lunch, Mom, That's what I'm talking about"

I asked her if this was something she had learned at Pre-school and she replied with "Ya - pwe-school"

I asked her to show me how it goes and this is how it goes

"this little caterpillar is looking for his lunch - He eats one Apple and goes Munch Munch Munch"

using her left index finger as a squiggly caterpillar and her right thumb as the apple and after the Munch Munch Munch part she shows me that the apple is gone by hiding her thumb in her fingers

I couldn't resist sharing this as I nearly cried cause how cute she was doing it. I am going to ask her to show her daddy when he gets home and maybe I can get it on video.

She also has been singing "clean up, clean up, everybody do their share. clean up, clean up, everyone clean up"

Too cute!

This has nothing to do with the story but I couldn't resist posting some pictures too!

Standing

If only we could all be this enthousiastic when we first stand in the morning!
Owen has just started to pull himself up on things to a standing position - he just started on Thursday in fact and he now does it on EVERYTHING - the toilet, the bathtub, Georgia's bed, his bed, the couch and chair, his faith chest, Georgia's stool, the changetable, the higchair - you name it, he can pull himself up on it.
He is ecstatic every time he does it, and if he can let go of the object and stand with no hands - EVEN BETTER, he totally HULKS out, clenching his fists and screaming - although he is usually leaning on the object for support but he still gets crazy happy!
He is a pro at standing now and I am fearful of what is to come once the feet start moving.
So here is a little video of Owens excitement to be standing, of course in the bathroom!

Labour Day Weekend

Nothing is more fun to do on a long weekend than family Reno's!!

Okay so not really Reno's but close enough.

Owen will be 10 months old in a matter of days and Georgia turns 3 in 17 days! WOW!

We always had in mind to add something to Owen's wall since Georgia had her swirls we found the blue on it's own just a little boring - we were thinking green and then I got to looking at Owen's baptism invitations and remembered how much I LOVE the brown with blue. I also thought we should pick something that he might not hate when he is 16 (not too babyish)

These Chocolate Brown Squares are what we ended up with

We also have been wanting to put doors on the kids rooms but it never seems to get done - I told Nate that Georgia NEEDS a door when she is 3, I am hoping this will help her fall asleep on her own in her OWN bed.

Georgia LOVES RED/PINK - not just red, not just pink but RED/PINK the two always go hand in hand. When we told her that she would be getting a door her first response was "So you can Lock me?" the poor child thinks we want to lock her up, after a lot of reassurance on the Locking Up fear her second response was "Can I have a RED/PINK door?" Well we already had some Pink paint so we used that and of course she helped to paint it. We also found some stamps that we had and decided to let her try those out in this deep shade of purple that we thought would go well with the rest of her Purple/Pink room. She loved it and she was so proud of herself. We decided to get some temporary door knobs so that Georgia could open and close her own door, hoping to relieve her of her Locked In fear.

It reminds me of Boo's Door from Monsters Inc.

So with the kids rooms nearing completion that leaves, MY ROOM, the bathroom (yes; it's still not entirely finished), the hall, the hearth, the entry way, the dining room, the basement and the biggest most expensive project, THE KITCHEN - one day my house will be a castle until then I am trying so hard to use my imagination.I really do LOVE my house - it just needs some redecorating to make it mine - almost there tho!

9 Months

Where does the time go?

My little baby boy is almost a toddler

2 months until I go back to work and Owen and Georgia start daycare

3 months until Owen's first birthday

No more parking in the baby spots - EVER! We had a good long run of getting really good parking spots because most of them are new & expectant mother so while I was pregnant with Georgia and up until she turned 1 (and even sometimes after) and shortly after that I got pregnant with Owen so it started all over again but now Georgia is a pre-schooler and Owen is almost a toddler so I can't exactly call myself a new mother and I am DEFINETELY NOT and expectant mother.

Pretty soon Owen will be running around chasing after his sister making his monster noises! He already gets into everything and he isn't officially crawling - it's more like flopping - but he gets where he's going and he gets there fast and it is always where he knows he shouldn't be - the bathroom, the registers, electrical outlets and one his way he always take a minute to stop look back and laugh devilishly.

This morning Owen woke up EARLY so he and I went for a walk while Daddy and Georgia slept.

Of course I brought the camera and got some nice sunny shots of my sweet boy!

They are doing construction on our street and I really wanted to put him in a bulldozer but I think my neighbours might call the city on me and there were pieces of a tree trunk that fell during a storm that I really want to lay him on but he wasn't very happy and since I was by myself I wouldn't have been able to catch him if he rolled off

But this is what I ended up with!
Enjoy

Owen's Baptism

So I already did a post of Owen's Baptism but it was done before we got our PRO pics back and now that I have the pro pics I have been having requests to see them
So here they are! Just a few!

These pictures are mostly family pictures in the park after his baptism and they are all courtesy of Judi from Stone Photography who has done ALL of our pro pictures for the last 5 years and we have used her services a few too many times but who's counting ! If you would like to view more of her work you can check our her site http://www.stonephotography.ca/
